Using Your Car For Business or Personal

March 30, 2010 by Graham McKenzie · Leave a Comment

There are not many people that would argue that business use is different than personal use. The thing that most people struggle with is the difference between the two. Being that car insurance is a very important aspect in our lives; we need to know what constitutes business use and what determines personal use.

When a business chooses to get a car insurance policy, they need to look at a few things. First, they need to address who will be on the policy. For example, in a personal policy, you have the responsibility of your family. Your family is a lot less liable than your business, even if you have a teenager. The best thing a business can do is retrieve the applicants driving record before they hire them on as an employee. By doing this, you are ensuring your insurance premiums to not skyrocket as well as the fact that you would even be able to add them on.

Business insurance versus personal car insurance varies by what you are going to be using your vehicle for. An example of business use would be transmitting items or hauling items to a different location that you would not be doing personally. In fact, this is business activity. There are business polices that directly deal with this type of situation; thereby making it more flexible of a policy.

Keeping track of gas and miles seems like a daunting task, however, it is a business necessity. It is very important that you distinguish which miles were used for personal use and which were used for business use. This helps on all fronts and is often tracked using a computer based model.

As always, a separate business policy is always recommended over a joint policy. There are many liabilities that come with business and to place your personal use in the middle is not often a good idea. If you are going to proceed using a personal policy for limited business use, you will need to contact the company you are insured with immediately and let them know. This will help prevent any claims being turned down in the event that something happens and you are using it for business use.

As stated above, you rate will increase because your usage has increased. Understand the usage for business is anything that is defined out of your daily use. In other words, driving to a conference is business use. This even applies if they reimburse you for miles and gas. If you transport goods or deliver items, you are using your personal vehicle for business use and it has to be documented. Sometimes we do not view things as business use because we consistently do them without even thinking. . Always keep everything in check because there are certain ramifications for not complying.

Whichever road you find yourself on, do not be caught without appropriate coverage. There are many different ways you can get the best deal for your situation so it is advised to talk with a car insurance agent.

Finding Automobile Insurance Rates

March 27, 2010 by Said Theabeit · Leave a Comment

Individuals seem to change their lifestyle options as they mature. For example, an individual tries to maintain a sedentary lifestyle when his or her body begins to show a sign of breaking down. We set aside monetary funds for our medical bills instead of saving for a vacation.

In this type of situation, it is very surprising that we do not put the same effort into concern for our automobiles.

It is important to keep in mind that your vehicle depreciates in value the instant you drive it off the car lot. The blue book value is known to decrease to nothing at a certain point in its short lifespan and because of this selling your car down the road is known as receiving a profit.

The question that we should always ask ourselves is, "Do we really want to put monetary funds out to insure a vehicle which you would not even consider to fix if it were in a bad accident?"

Because Florida has the third highest number of drivers on the road in the country (12,905,813) and approximately 23% of these drivers are uninsured, most auto insurance companies and state insurance departments recommend carrying higher amounts than the minimum requirements.

If you just renew your automobile insurance policy without checking around and just agreeing to the same old rates that you had before might not be such a great idea. Keep in mind that the correct way of implementing these actions will depend on the exact personal circumstances. It is quite a simple process nowadays. Due to the luxury of the Internet, you have a vast amount of tools available at your fingertips to assist in getting you numerous different automotive insurance quotes.

There are always new ways to save money, but this secret method of finding cheap auto insurance is unbeatable. You'll find the competition for your business is pretty fierce online and you'll be able to save yourself quite a few bucks by comparing the rates of many different insurance agencies all at once.

Note: The state of Florida has strict laws about whom you do business with. If you are a Florida resident and your car is registered in the state of Florida, you must purchase an automobile insurance policy through an insurance company that is licensed to sell car insurance in the state of Florida. If you purchase an auto insurance policy from an unlicensed out-of-state insurance provider, the state of Florida will not honor the policy. In addition, new Florida residents are prohibited from maintaining an existing policy that has been issued in their previous state of residence.

Denny Hamlin Wins NASCAR Race At Pocono

March 25, 2010 by Ross Everett · Leave a Comment

Denny Hamlin, pegged as a future NASCAR superstar, ended a sophomore slump of sorts when he won the rain delayed Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. The race had originally been scheduled for a day earlier but was pushed back due to rain. The win was Hamlin's first of the season and broke a 50 race winless streak. His last victory had come in 2008 at Martinsville Raceway.

After the race, an emotional Hamlin dedicated the victory to his grandmother who passed away late last week at the age of 91:

She understands the competition of the sport and she understands how much she means to me. Like today, she's pretty proud. We definitely had some angels with us today."

Hamlin has always raced well on the unique triangle configuration track at Pocono. He swept both races here as a rookie in 2006 and after the race his boss J.D. Gibbs made note of that fact:

I told him earlier, we're going to lobby for a few extra races at Pocono"

Hamlin moved up to fifth in the NASCAR championship points standings after the victory. Tony Stewart increased his points lead over second place Jimmie Johnson to 197 points with a top ten finish.

Clint Bowyer finished third and expressed pleasure with the solid performance in his postrace comments:

"Things haven't been going our way all year long so it feels good to have something swing our way.

Former Indy Car driver Sam Hornish, Jr. took fourth"his best finish since coming to NASCAR. Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.

NASCAR heads to Watkins Glen, NY to race on the road course there for the next race. Current points leader Tony Stewart is considered not only the best road course driver among current NASCAR competitors, but arguably the best of all time. The following week NASCAR travels to the Michigan International Speedway for the CarFax 400.

Steel Garages Pros And Cons

March 24, 2010 by Adriana Noton · Leave a Comment

When you think about steel buildings, you may think of a large factory. Many industrial areas have large and impressive looking steel structures. Did you know that they are available to the public also? Steel garages can be a very good choice for residential outside buildings.

Steel buildings are made completely out of steel. They are not to be confused with steel frame buildings. Steel frame buildings have the inner structure of steel. The outer building such as the roof and siding can be made out of other materials. A steel frame garage may resemble an ordinary wood garage. Steel frame buildings are not the subject of this discussion. Steel buildings have many advantages over other structures. Here are some to consider.

Good things

They are cheaper than building a conventional garage. You will pay considerably less than a conventional one.

Sturdiness: Steel is strong. They do not need a lot of extra support. The design and structure of the steel building make it very strong. They hold up better than wood. There is also very little, if any, upkeep. Once you build them, there is not much else to do. They can withstand the elements well also.

Versatility: You can find a great variety of uses for a steel building. You may need a separate workshop. Perhaps you need a place to house a tractor or other farm equipment. The kids might need an area to play music. Steel building will work well for those purposes

Outside design: Many steel buildings can look like other types of buildings. You can apply various materials for colors and textures. They can resemble wood, also.

Not as heavy: Steel structures do not weigh as much as other garages. Wood, brick, or concrete would be considerably heavier.

Fire resistant: A wood garage can be a fire risk. Your insurance would most likely be cheaper for steel.

Tax savings: Your steel building may qualify as energy efficient. This could give you a tax savings.

Resists damage: Water will not soak into steel buildings. Water damage of this kind cannot happen. Once wet, they dry off quickly. Insects will not eat steel. If you live where termites are a problem, this is a good feature. Fungus does not like to grow on steel.

Disadvantages

Steel will absorb heat at a rapid rate. As a result, it will also dissipate quickly. In colder climates, this can be a disadvantage. You will need some special equipment to build a steel building. However, there are kits available. With kits, you get instructions and there is less work to do. Steel will rust if it is dented or scratched. You would need to allow for that.

Summary

There are many uses for steel garages and metal buildings. They have many uses. They are typically cheaper than other types of buildings. They are very durable. They resist water and rot. They will rust if damaged. In wintertime, they may lose heat rapidly. You will not have to worry about pests such as termites. Steel is light and strong. It is also fire resistant. However, steel buildings may not be easy to erect. However, there are kits to make them easier to build.

Prefabricated steel buildings direct from the manufacturer. Offers a wide selection of steel buildings, metal carports, steel garage kits and more.

Stop Automotive Repair Fraud and Save Money

March 22, 2010 by Wayne Allen · Leave a Comment

Too many automotive centers are taking advantage of the consumer's lack of knowledge about their automobile or truck. While there are many trustworthy shops that do honorable and reliable work, there are always places that just take the consumer's money while not making the necessary repairs, if they do any work at all.

The government and press are trying to intervene, and while some shops are getting caught and being indicted with fraud, too many shops are still doing it, and getting away with it. You have probable seen the headlines about automotive repair shops being charged with fraud because they lied or cheated their customers in a certain way.

Here are some tips on how to be better educated about your automobile so that when you go into a shop for repairs, you will know what to say and more important, what you should look for when the vehicle is in the shop.

The most important thing is to go to a reputable place of business. Ask your friends where they have their vehicles repaired. Ask them why they like the shop, what their fees are, and how long they have been using that particular place. Just doing a little homework and research will save you a lot of headaches and money.

When you take your vehicle to the shop of your choice, be very specific in what you want done. For example, if you need tires, let them know you are in there just for tire work. If the service advisor tells you that you need other work done, do not be afraid to ask why it is needed. If he is trying to sell you a tune-up, and all you asked for was tires that should raise a red flag. There is no reason for the mechanic to look under the hood when the vehicle is in there only for tires.

The service advisor may tell you that you need brakes or that you have leaks, both of which can be relatively easily spotted when the vehicle is in the air and the wheels are off the vehicle. Ask the advisor for measurements of components that are worn, such as the brakes, and ask if you can take a look for yourself. If they will not give a measurement or they will not allow you to view the problem, do not have them repair it. As a matter of fact, do not let them do any work and take your vehicle somewhere else. Most reputable shops have no problems with these requests.

If you need major repairs, such as engine replacement or transmission replacement or an overhaul, always get a second opinion from another reputable shop. If you have built up a good relationship with your existing shop, this may not be necessary. But if this is the first time you have brought your vehicle to a new shop, you really need to get that second opinion, even if it takes just a phone call. Sometimes it is not practical to have your vehicle towed from one shop to another, and then back again to the original shop.

By being an informed consumer, you can save yourself hundreds or thousands of dollars on car repair costs over the years. It's not cheap to maintain your automobile these days, so make sure to do your homework when it comes to finding a good shop so that you do not become a victim of automotive repair fraud.

Auto Shipping: To Ship or Sell

March 21, 2010 by Tom Kearns · Leave a Comment

A good question. Certainly the auto shipping industry has undergone massive expansion recently and offers the public many services to meet their needs. Some will still find that using their services is not worth either the trouble or the cost involved. This is a new industry and such thoughts are reasonable. You don't want to take advantage of a service you might not really need.

The answer depends on your particular situation. You need to do some research into how much you can sell your car for where you live now and how much that super car you dream about will cost to buy, extras included, at your point of destination. Time is also a consideration. Selling your car can take a long time.

The decision whether to ship or sell is not an instant one. It takes time to research the costs and services that the multitudinous car shippers offer, while at the same time you are gathering data on selling your car and purchasing another. Time is a factor in both areas. The estimated delivery times quoted to you by an auto transporter is just that - an estimate. If you have strict delivery requirements, you must inform them of this. Exact time of delivery requirements will cost you more everywhere and some companies simply cannot guarantee specific pick-up and drop-off dates.

In the most general terms, if your car is well used and you have no special fish to keep it, you might as well sell it and buy a better car or a cheap second-hand one at your new place. If, however, you won a new car or a unique car you would rather keep, you should naturally prefer car shipping. While some shipping routes may be complicated and thus require significant expenses, most routes are fairly simple, accessible by a single carrier, and thus are likely to cost less than the expense of a good new car.

So now you have chosen to ship your Lotus Elite. Be of utmost diligence in selecting the auto shipping company to do this service for you. You want a safe delivery of your car and within reason of the estimated delivery time quoted to you. Actually since you have opted for auto shipping, your best bet is to now choose a closed shipping or container shipping. This will be more expensive, but your precious car will be protected from harsh weather, flying road stuff, road dirt, vandalism and theft.

If the decision is to sell your car, you have to decide moreover on whether to sell it yourself or through a dealer. You will get more money for it if you sell it yourself, but it will cost you time and trouble. The car dealer will be faster and will handle everything for you. As a matter of fact this option is probably even easier than wheeling and dealing with an auto shipping broker.

Will Hybrid Cars Dominate The UK Car Market In 2010?

March 18, 2010 by Danny Green · Leave a Comment

The world is going through a financial crunch. A large number of people have lost their source of income, and some have even lost their homes. What this has resulted in is more careful spending. People are now much more careful with their money. A car is the second biggest investment that a person makes after a home. With rising awareness to global warming and increasing fuel costs, people are being forced to look at other means of transportation.

Car makers have also seen the changing consumer requirements and are now focused on developing cars that emit less CO2, and are more fuel efficient. Car manufacturers are focusing on developing cars using two technologies. One is development of hybrid cars and the other is the development of electric cars. Hybrid cars use two power sources, which are a conventional petrol engine and an electric motor. Electric cars use just an electric motor.

According to BBC, Toyota has announced that it shall manufacture a hybrid model of its Auris hatchback in the UK, from the year 2010. This would be the first time that Toyota would be manufacturing a car outside Japan or USA.

Hybrid technology uses two power sources, mainly electrical power and gasoline being the secondary source. Hybrid cars are almost as good as any conventional cars. The use of electrical energy to run the vehicle not only reduces the carbon emission but also provides an alternative solution for costly fuel consumption. The only reason behind its slow rate of adoption by consumers is its price. Hybrid cars are a bit expensive as compared to the conventional cars; however, in the long run, they are bound to benefit the purchasers as they are fuel efficient and provide reduced tax incentive.

On the contrary, there has been an increase in the hybrid car sales in the UK. Three of the luxury hybrid cars of Toyota Lexus have been selling well in the UK market and the Honda Civic IMA and Toyota Prius are gaining more popularity with time. Toyota Prius is an absolute success among the celebrities.

The hybrid car market of the UK is bound to increase in the year 2010, due to various other factors as well. Though the fuel prices are now in control as compared to the surging oil prices in the year 2007-2008, but it is still not possible for the consumers to keep up with the road taxes, especially in the UK. People who own green cars have to pay less tax than those running conventional cars. Moreover, efforts are being made on the national scale to decrease the depreciation of hybrid car value. This will make resale value equally beneficial for the buying and the selling parties.

The hybrid car technology is being constantly evolved and improved. It is being structured and designed to suit the extreme weather temperature of the UK. Toyota as well as Honda models are striving to introduce special features in hybrid cars to attract the consumers.

With the expected decrease in the prices and increase in their production in the UK, hybrid cars are bound to dominate the UK car market in the year 2010.
