Tips On Lightweight Travel Trailers And Where To Buy One

August 31, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Many people who want to add a small camper to their pick up truck discover that there are very few lightweight travel trailers to choose from. Weight is the problem not the variety of the RVs, since most of the existing recreational vehicles in the category are too heavy for a car or light pick-up truck to pull. A closer analysis of the market offer will show you that even the RV companies no matter if we are talking about rental companies or dealers are reluctant to purchase lightweight travel trailers to keep them on stock. The reasoning for such a sales policy is very simple: the demand is lower for such recreational vehicles, and therefore it is not profitable to keep them in stock.

The problem with some lightweight travel trailers is the bathroom since all the plumbing adds up to the overall weight of the vehicle not to mention that the ceiling has to be higher. Therefore, with many lightweight travel trailers the bathroom is pretty basic or non existent. Four types of vehicles fall in the category of lightweight travel trailers: the teardrops, the fiberglass eggs, the ultra-lightweights and the pop-up tent trailers.

Each of the models has its advantage and downside: thus, the pop-ups are suitable for warmer climates, the fiberglass ones have a specific smell inside because of the materials they are made of, and the teardrops have offer pretty little space.

The ultra-lightweight vehicles that generally have around 2,000 pounds could be the most money efficient, but that very much depends on the individual choices and preferences. In terms of size, the interior of lightweight travel trailers is not larger than a small or medium-sized bedroom in the best of cases, which is between ten and twelve feet. Such lightweight travel trailers would do for a couple, but not for a family. The various models come ready furnished from factory with basic appliances including a stove and a microwave, with a very simple bathroom, with or without shower.

It is surprising to discover that there is little difference between the costs of new and used lightweight travel trailers as the price ranges somewhere around $10,000 with all the included amenities. The manufacturing year and the technical inspection are also important to check when you want to buy a second-hand recreational vehicle. In the absence of a dealer in your local area, you can always try the Internet for more comprehensive resources. Always go through updated databases, otherwise you may find items that are no longer in stock.

4 Ways To Increase Automotive Performance

August 26, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

In these days of high gasoline prices, it may seem ridiculous to consider ways to increase your car's performance as they are almost always associated with increased fuel consumption. However, there are four ways to increase performance that do not have to negatively impact your gas mileage. Let's take a closer look at each one.

1. Reusable Air Filters. Landfills are stuffed with items we use once and then throw out. Auto air filters are one such item and through the life of a car you can go through 6-12 of them with no problem. For approximately three times the price, washable and reusable air filters are a great alternative. When you purchase one it likely will be the last air filter your car will ever need. Reusable air filters enable you to gain slight increases in horsepower and acceleration as well as to impact the environment in a positive way.

2. Performance Chips. All new cars are operated by a computer chip that tells how much torque and horsepower can be displaced. Performance chips or recalibrations of your current chip can produce significant increases in horsepower and torque for your vehicle.

3. Performance Exhaust Systems. Cat-back or "catalyst-back exhaust systems" are a great way to free up trapped torque and to unleash horsepower. Keeping all the important emissions parts in place, a cat-back system incorporates large width exhaust pipes and low restriction performance mufflers into your car thereby lowering exhaust back pressure. A side benefit is the really awesome sound emitting from the exhaust system.

4. Cold Air Intake. A cold air intake is an under the hood mod that helps to reduce the temperature of the air entering the car for the sole purpose of increasing the power of the engine. Side benefits include enhancements to the appearance of the engine bay as this part can be attractive and colorful; the sound the unit makes is also appealing.

Costs for each of these performance enhancements can vary greatly. Shopping online with a trusted wholesaler is one of the best ways to find top quality parts at the lowest possible prices. By doing the work yourself, you can save a bundle and enjoy the fruits of your labor in no time.

Tips For Making The Most With Car Auction

August 10, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Among the different kinds of auto auctions, car government auctions are perhaps the most lucrative. Here you can really get a great bargain on a new or used vehicle. These government auctions are selling vehicles that have been seized or repossessed. There are numerous auctions available in most areas of the country, each offering a lot of vehicles.

The number of government auctions has increased but so have other kinds of auctions. The competition has been pretty rough in this auction market but since the government are continually acquiring new cars, boats, and other items, this is a wonderful alternative to get great deals.

Many auction companies have been established on the internet and the best of them are providing great service, excellent support, as well as offering additional services wrapped together all-in-one package. The easiest way to purchase a vehicle through such an auction is through the internet. The access is easy.

You have the ability to search for auctions near where you live and you can even specify the make and model you are interested in when you search. Many of these auctions are also selling accessories. You will then get a list of all auctions for your selected makes and models that are auctioned in your area. It is a convenient way to find just the brand you want.

These online auction services normally charges a yearly fee for using it. When we compare this fee to all the money you can save on the amazing vehicle bargains found, this is just a small drop in the ocean. It is important though, that you go to the best, most reputable and recommended of these motorcar auction websites.

Unfortunately there are sites out there that are not so high in quality, you should not jump on the first auction site that you find, but at least do a little research and check out what other people who knows the websites have to say about them. You do this by searching for " auto auction"+"review." Good luck!

At the Capital Auto Auction website you will be able to look at all the cars that are available at an upcoming auto auction. The website features pictures of each car that is being auctioned as well as information about the car's features and how the car came to Capital Auto Auction. If you are unable to attend a live auto auction, you can still find a car through an online auto auction. Cars that are available through the online car auction will feature a start and stop time of the bidding as well as the open bid. Whether you attend a live auto auction or an online auto auction, you can get started by registering for free at Capital Auto Auction's website.

This summer when you hit the road for that family road trip, you can enjoy the long ride and save on mileage and wear and tear with an affordable used car from a public car auction through Capital Auto Auction.

Learn To Minimize Luxury Car Rental Rates

August 9, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Nothing beats travelling in luxury and style with luxury car rentals; however, luxury car rental rates are not kind to your pocket. You can make them kinder, but it is going to take a bit of work and elbow grease on your part. There are many ways to bring down the excessive costs incurred through luxury car rental rates when you travel for business or even from pleasure.

Lowering The Rates

Luxury cares are expensive, yes, but their rates are not set in stone. Quite the contrary, luxury car rental rates are just as flexible as those of less expensive cars. All you have to do is find ways of bending them to more affordable levels. One such way of lowering your luxury car rental rates is to snoop around on rental websites for discounts, special packages or rental deals. You can often find special deals on certain days of the week or even during certain seasons. You can also find deals as part of travel packages. These are normally all inclusive of accommodation, travel and luxury car rental rates. When you are looking at rentals, ask about hidden or extra costs that go with it.

Often luxury car rental rates are fluffed out by extra costs that you don't see at first glance. You should also compare different luxury car rental rates online so that you get a good idea of what's out there. Different rental companies online will offer different rental rates as well as different discounts and specials or packages. Doing some comparative shopping is a good way to find the best deals in town. Although luxury cars are less in demand than budget car rentals and luxury car rental rates are higher, they are still in demand.

If you are looking for plain luxury cars or exotic luxury car rentals, book early. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to find cheaper luxury car rental rates available. This is because they have not been booked out yet. Closer to the time the only ones left will be the very expensive ones nobody else could afford. Booking a luxury car rental for business, pleasure or travel purposes is a necessity as well as an affordable decadence.

It is up to you to find the best prices, you are the one wanting to save money, and the rental agencies want you to spend as much money as you can. Sometimes something simple like asking for discounts or about the discounts available can get you that perfect deal.

We may need not use the cars all the time and car rental is a good way and rental cars can help you a lot.

Making The Most Of Cheap Car Rental Deals

August 5, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

We know that consumers today are hard up to find real value for their money. These days it is all about making the little that you have stretch even further than ever before. One of the places you really need to find good value and quality for your money is in car rental. Car rental happens all the time, maybe you need to travel to another state, another country or you are going on vacation.

Whatever the reason, car rental plays a large role in travel. That makes finding cheap car rental deals imperative to the health and well-being of your wallet and bank account. There are a few tips and trick to follow that will help you ensure that you land the best cheap car rental deals in town.

Cutting Corners

First and foremost, you need to turn away from over the counter car rentals and welcome online car rentals into your life. It will not only make car rental so much easier, faster and better, it will lower the cost as well. You can find better cheap car rental deals online than you can at local over the counter dealerships. This is because online cheap car rental deals often offer you discounts that help lower your overall rental cost. This is especially handy in tracking down cheap monthly car rental for those extended rental periods that can become all too costly in the end.

Another corner to cut is the gas corner. Most of the time you will be required to refill the tank before you return the car, if you don't the company will refill it and add it on to your final bill. You can save money by filling up at the cheapest gas point you can find, the company will charge the highest gas refill they can.

Loyalty is often rewarded, if you are a frequent traveler; consider keeping to one rental company only. You may just score on discounts on cheap car rental deals. Travelling will often include airfare, accommodation and your rental. That can all get pretty pricey. However, you can get great cheap car rental deals and deals on accommodation and airfares if you look for and choose all inclusive travel packages.

One more important corner to cut is to pick your car up from the rental company and drop it off there yourself again. Doing this, instead of having it dropped off at and picked up from your airport, can save you lots of money in airport surcharges on your cheap car rental deals.

We may need not use the cars all the time and car rental is a good way and rental cars can help you a lot.

Getting Up To Date With 2011 Camaro Pictures

August 4, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The comeback of the Camaro last year with the 2010 generated a lot of excitement in the automotive world. Since it is almost time for a new model year, we are starting to see 2011 Camaro pictures all over the internet. This time it's not quite as exciting.

The V6 engine horsepower rating has increased from 304 HP in 2010 to 312 HP in 2011. The torque has gone from 273 lb-ft to 278 lb-ft. Unfortunately this does not reflect any improvement in the engine. What has changed is that SAE certification has been completed, so the earlier conservative specs have been replaced with specs derived from the certification. The other performance specifications are unchanged from the 2010 model.

Fans of the paper power derby will note that the V6 Camaro is thus passing the comparable Mustang on horsepower. The Mustang is still slightly ahead in fuel economy, 29 or 30 MPG for the Mustang against 29 MPG for the Camaro. This will definitely not bring the which is better conversation to an end.

The best news for the driver is that the Head Up Display (HUD) that was developed for the Corvette, is being adapted for some models of the 2011 Camaro. This HUD will display key information, including speed and RPM, on the windshield. The HUD will also display OnStar navigation instructions.

The 2010 Synergy Special Edition Camaro introduced a new color, Synergy Green. This color was only available on the 1LT Trim Level. Since the new color has been very popular, for 2011 it will be available on all Trim Levels for $325.

The 2011 Camaro SS Convertible will perhaps be announced in the near future. There's nothing about this on the official site, but rumors persist that it is coming. It will be cloth with small side windows. There will be a glass rear window. Finishing up the package are a distinct spoiler design and an antenna that looks like a shark fin.

Those who hunger for the really hot cars will have to wait a bit for the relaunch of the Camaro Z28. It seems to have been moved from the 2011 model year to 2012, possibly because of General Motors recent financial near meltdown. You can look forward to a 6.2 supercharged V8 putting out something like 556 horsepower. Hopefully you can wait till late 2011 for this speed wagon.

The two V8 engine options for the 2011 Camaro are unchanged from 2010. With the 6 speed manual transmission, the V8 option is the 6.2 liter LS3 producing 426 horsepower at 5900 RPM and 420 lb-ft. At 4600 RPM. The 6 speed automatic transmission comes with the 6.2 liter L99 V8, which produces 400 horsepower at 5900 RPM and 410 lb-ft. At 4300 RPM. The L99 engine has Active Fuel Management, which deactivates half of the cylinders under light load. This gives significantly better mileage.

If you like the retro look, you will like viewing the 2011 Camaro interior pictures. The quality is definitely not luxury, but the instruments are well laid out and current. You probably won't be surprised by the small back seat, but the small opening into the trunk will annoy you when loading large objects.

As you can see from the 2011 Camaro pictures it is a step up, just not a big one. It has improvements, just nothing dramatic. If you want drama, stay tuned for the upcoming convertible and Z28.

Ideas For Choosing A Personalized Plate

August 2, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Having a personalized plate is often a way that you can reflect a bit of your personality with your car. Certainly, many people would like to drive a posh sports car, convertible or luxury classic. Realistically though, not everyone can afford to. So while you might want a red car that is flashy, you may have to settle for a boring white one. Still want the car to reflect a little bit of who you are? Then personalize your license plate. You can be sassy, stylish or funny, or align yourself to a specific theme. There is a lot of freedom in choosing personalized plates without going outside the boundaries of DVLA regulations. If you are not sure where to start, here are few ideas if you want to look for or create your own personalized plate.

Add a Title to Your Personalized Plate

Maybe you are a genuine medical doctor; you could then have the title DR at the start of your personalized plate. Most people, however, often use this as a quirky way of personalizing their plate. For example, you could choose DR LUV, MISS CHIF, or SIR BLACK as ideas for your plate. There are many variables and you can have a lot of fun using wordplay to create a truly unique plate for your vehicle. Think of things that describe you, your life or your aspirations. Then see if they work by adding a title in front of them.

Use an Adjective as a Nick Name

These are often the types of personalized plates that get the most laughs when sitting in traffic. Imagine seeing a plate that says BOSSY, BABE, LAZY, MESSY or SEXY. Often, it will make you wonder about who the owner of the car is, and if they are really bossy, messy or lazy. When choosing your personalized plate, think of adjectives that describe your personality. Are you a perfectionist, the funny guy, or a busy bee that is always running around to a million different activities? Or are you a couch potato that only leaves your home to go to work?

Use a Country Prefix

Perhaps you live in the United Kingdom but are originally from another country. Perhaps you are simply proud to be British. You can use the GB acronym as a prefix for your personalized plate. In some cases, you may also be able to use the country codes from other European countries. You can follow the prefix with your name or a specific set of numbers, whatever is your choice.

Use Your First Name

Sometimes the best personalized plates are actually quite simple. Maybe you want your plate to just say ANNE, MARK or PETER. Sometimes you may be able to find a plate with your name that is in your price range but often people who have these personalized plates will want to hold onto them. In this case, you can look at a range of variations. You could be ANNE7 if your birthday is on the seventh of the month. You could also choose the year of your birth or any other combination of letters and numbers as a prefix or suffix to the name. Once again, you can get quite creative in designing and finding the personalized plate of your choice.

Brag About Your Car

Let's face it, boys will be boys; if they have a big fancy car, they want people to know about it. Motoring enthusiasts may be able to tell at a glance if a car has a V6, V8, or V12 engine but the average person won't be able to. This is a great way to personalize your plate. Use the V8 as a prefix or suffix to your registration number. Perhaps you want the numbers to reflect the model year of the car or the date when you bought it. Maybe you bought the car as part of your miniature mid-life crises so why not use that age to remind yourself why you bought the car in the first place?

Are You a VIP or BIG?

There are other ways in which you can personalize your plate. You can create a VIP image by using that as a prefix to your registration number. You could also use the word BIG as part of a more sassy style of number plate. Examples of this would be BIG BOSS, BIG BOY, BIG DEAL or any number of other combinations.

The Private Plate Company is leaders of Personalized number plates and DVLA Car Registrations. Conduct your own free search, and choose from our huge selection of private-sale plates.
