Continuing Disscusion About Wheels and Tire Rims

Wheels come in various styles, sizes and are constructed from a number of different materials. From steel and alloy to aluminum and chrome, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the shear number of choices. Many wheels manufactured today are made of aluminum, which is light and fairly inexpensive. Sometimes these wheels are coated with chrome or a metallic coating to give them a distinctive look. The truth about aluminum wheels from the factory is that they are made quite well and will stand up to the everyday abuse that your car goes through. When shopping for after market aluminum wheels, you will often be surprised by the many low cost rims available. Unfortunately though, these cheap aluminum wheels are not as durable as the factory rims and should likely be avoided if you use your car for everyday road driving. A more expensive, good quality aluminum wheel will be worth the extra cost.

Some tire rims are made of steel as well and then coated with another metal to give them a shiny appearance. These are also offered for little money, but again, you get what you pay for. A good quality steel wheel will be made of a durable steel, but also coated properly to ensure that pitting and chipping does not occur.

When choosing new wheels, first and foremost, check the size. There's not sense buying a new set of rims that won't fit your current tires, unless you plan to purchase new tires at the same time. Also check that the rims have the same number of bolts as your current rims so they fit on with ease. Some companies offer tire and wheel packages at a great discount and they often come balanced, which means that you can easily put them on in your own garage in just a few minutes.

As far as budget goes, there are many wheels or tire rims that can be purchased for less than $100 each, or you can you up to several thousand dollars per wheel for a custom made wheel made of high quality steel.

No matter the wheel you choose, one thing is certain; It will change the look of your vehicle perhaps more than many other vehicle modifications. This is one change that doesn't have to cost a lot of money but can go a long way in improving the look of your vehicle.
